About K2 Gym
A performance gym and martial arts centre built with intention, not compromise.

Jiu Jitsu, Boxing, Kickboxing and Wrestling, all trained at competition level here. Mark Thomas has been coaching martial arts for 20+ years. Whether you're stepping on a mat for the first time or preparing for your next fight, you'll get proper technique, not just a workout.

Every machine on the floor was hand-picked for performance. Plate-loaded, competition dumbbells, heavy isolation. Equipment used at the highest levels of bodybuilding, in a gym that won't make you queue for it.

You don't need experience to walk in. Coaches will look after you from day one, and classes run from kids as young as 4 through to competitive fighters and lifters. Every level trains here, and none of them will make you feel out of place.

We keep things simple: no joining fee, no pushy sales team, no overcomplicated memberships. Day passes, week passes, monthly, annual. Come once or come every day. The price is exactly what it says.
Classes & training
From your first session to your next competition, there's a place for you on the mat or the floor.

Gi and No-Gi. Beginner to competitor.
BJJ is ground-based grappling: positional control, submissions, and technique over strength. K2 runs both Gi and No-Gi sessions including a dedicated kids program from age 4. No experience needed for the beginner classes. Mark Thomas has been coaching BJJ for 20+ years and many students compete across the UK, though competing is never required.
Complete beginners, kids (from 4 years old), experienced grapplers, competitive fighters.

Technique, fitness, and real sparring.
Boxing sessions cover footwork, combinations, bag work and controlled sparring. Whether you're after fitness through pad work or want to develop genuine ring skills, the sessions cater to both. Equipment is Fairtex and competition standard.
Total beginners through to experienced boxers.

Stand-up striking with full technique.
Kickboxing and Muay Thai use punches, kicks, knees and elbows, one of the most complete striking systems you can learn. K2 also offers a 4-week intro kickboxing course, ideal if you want to try it out before committing to regular classes.

Building confidence from age 4.
Structured martial arts sessions for children from 4 years old, taught by experienced coaches in a safe and supportive environment. Kids develop discipline, coordination and confidence, without it needing to be serious or intimidating.

A full introduction to mixed martial arts.
A structured 5-week course (10 sessions, Mon and Fri 5-6pm) covering the fundamentals of MMA: striking, takedowns, and ground work. Ideal for beginners who want an all-round introduction or fighters looking to add new dimensions to their game.

Move better. Train harder.
Primal Movement focuses on mobility, functional patterns and movement quality, the training that makes everything else feel easier. Sessions are coached by Madison Froning and complement strength training, martial arts and any other sport.
Anyone wanting to improve movement quality, flexibility, and functional strength.

Train outside. Build real capacity.
Group rucking sessions take the training outdoors with weighted packs. Low-impact, high-return cardio that builds endurance, posture and mental toughness. Just a short walk from the beach and local transport, so the routes are worth the effort.

Training Zones

Plate-loaded machines, competition dumbbells, racks and power equipment, hand-picked for performance and always available. No queue for the squat rack.

Dedicated bodybuilding equipment including isolation machines, Hammer Strength, Atlantis Strength hack squat with plate extenders, and a full competition dumbbell range. One of the most complete bodybuilding setups in Cornwall.

Full mat space for BJJ, Boxing, Kickboxing, Wrestling and MMA. Used by kids from age 4, beginners learning their first technique, and fighters preparing for competition. Same mat, different purpose. All of it real.

Sauna, ice bath, cold plunge and red light therapy: the full recovery protocol, available to members and non-members. Add it to a session or book a standalone slot.

We guarantee the cheapest good coffee in Newquay. £2. Supplements on site. Train hard, refuel without the hipster tax.

Chris is one of the most decorated natural bodybuilders in the UK: PCA Pro, British Title, World Champion. He trains here at K2 and coaches the next generation of bodybuilders with the same methodical approach that got him to the top.
Known for prep that's sustainable, not punishing, Chris combines elite physique knowledge with real-life experience as a father and athlete. His coaching is precise because it has to be. He's done it himself.
